Pocket Money Policy

 

  • Purpose: To provide a safe and structured framework for managing boarding students’ pocket money, promoting financial responsibility, and preventing exploitation.
  • Eligibility: All boarding students are eligible to receive weekly pocket money of US$10, which will be deposited into their school accounts
  • Withdrawal: Students can withdraw money from their accounts at designated times, monitored by the school.
  • Responsibility: Students are responsible for managing their accounts and ensuring they have sufficient funds for their needs. The school will regularly review accounts to prevent financial exploitation.

  • Consequences for Misuse: If students misuse their pocket money, they will receive a verbal warning and guidance on responsible financial management for a first offense.
  • For a second offense, they will receive a written warning and temporary suspension of pocket money.
  • If they commit a third offense, their pocket money will be permanently suspended, and disciplinary action will be taken.

After School Activities

Westwood College offers a variety of clubs that serve the interests of different learners. The clubs offered are Debate and Public Speaking, Chess, Music, Toastmasters, Leo Interact, Sisterhood, Karate, Modern Dance, Cheerleading, and Art.

These clubs help foster teamwork, creativity, and communication skills.

On top of the above the school offers different kinds of sports such as tennis, volleyball, cricket, netball, swimming and golf.

It is also important to mention that the school offers extra-curricular activities such as entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and community service.

On Friday afternoon, the school holds devotions from 12:30 up to 13:30 hours. This has been a long-standing culture that has helped in modeling good behavior and developing and upholding learners’ morals.

Achievements

Since its establishment, Westwood College has achieved quite a lot. Some of the achievements include a 98% pass rate in 2023. In December 2023 the school also built a state-of-the-art Laboratory. The college has produced more than nine hundred graduates through various universities and colleges both Nationally and Internationally.

Boarding facilities/ Hostel setup

The school offers boarding facilities to both girls and boys. Westwood College boasts of big prestigious boarding rooms that accommodate 2 learners per room.

This arrangement helps in creating a good living environment and this avoids conflicts as learners will not be overcrowded in 1 room. This also helps students to study well especially when preparing for exams.

In addition to that, the menu for the students is top-notch and contains the necessary nutrients needed for the learners to kick start and enjoy the rest of their day.


Diet at Westwood Collage


At Westwood College, students are provided food with balanced, nutritious, and delicious meals that cater to their diverse dietary needs. The weekly meal plan is carefully crafted to ensure students start their day with energy, stay fueled throughout their studies, and feel at home while away from their families.

The day begins at 6:00 AM with a wholesome breakfast of porridge, offering a variety of cereals including Cornflakes and Cerevita.Β 

By 9:30 AM, a mid-morning tea break provides light snacks such as buns, sandwiches, or French toast, accompanied by tea or a refreshing drink. This ensures students remain focused and energized as they continue their classes.

Lunch is served at 1:00 PM, featuring hearty meals that blend local flavors and international cuisine. Students enjoy options like Sadza with chicken stew or spaghetti with beef stew, complemented by a variety of vegetables and fruits.

These balanced meals provide the nutrients students need for their physical and mental well-being.

Dinner is offered between 5:30 PM and 6:00 PM, with satisfying dishes such as roast chicken, beef stew, rice, or Sadza, along with fresh vegetables and fruits. These warm and comforting meals ensure that students feel a sense of belonging and familiarity, reminiscent of home-cooked food.

To end the day, a post-study snack is available at 8:00 PM, with options like egg sandwiches, muffins, or popcorn paired with tea or juice. These light snacks help students relax and recharge before bedtime.

The carefully curated meals are designed to cater to students’ nutritional needs, promoting focus and physical health. The meal plan fosters a homely environment, helping students transition smoothly into college life.
